Mother's Finest eröffneten 1978 die Live-Übertragung der 2. Rockpalast Rocknacht mit einer explosiven Mischung aus Rock, Funk und Soul. Sie waren eine der ersten Gruppen überhaupt, die einen Crossover aus schwarzem Funk und weißem Rock’n’Roll spielten. 1984 trennte sich die Band, ist aber seit dem Jahr 2000 wieder aktiv. 2003 waren sie nahezu in der Originalbesetzung wieder zu Gast beim Rockpalast: auf Burg Satzvey spielten sie neben ihren Klassikern auch starke neue Songs.
